15 July Regular Meeting – The 49:1 End Fed Wire antenna

We will be having one of our member’s (Eben ZL2EF) give a presentation on the 49:1 impedance transformers for what is known as the End Fed Half Wave Antenna (EFHW).   Eben has been doing some work on improving (and measuring) efficiency, and seen some promising improvements.    It is difficult to get an efficient balun with the turns ratio required for a true half wave end fed antenna.  Most people settle for a 9:1 End Fed Random Wire Antenna.  This has the added advantage of working on a range of frequencies.
