5301 – ZL Region 1
5302 – ZL Region 2
5303 – ZL Region 3
5304 – ZL Region 4

5302 is the best channel for Wellington conversations

TIMESLOT 2

Network: FreeDMR
Colour Code: 1

Static Talkgroups (always on)

8000530 – ZL National

The ‘8’ prefix, this will direct the traffic to TG 530 on the FreeDMR Network. This applies to Static and Dynamic Talkgroups

Dynamic Talkgroups
Dynamic TGs are available.
Key up on the talkgroup number to activate your desired TG. NOTE: Remember the ‘8’ prefix and trailing ‘0’s’

Disconnect
Remember, if you use a Dynamic Talkgroup, key up on TG 8004000 when you are finished to disconnect the dynamic talkgroup from the repeater.

Programming for FreeDMR – The 8 Prefix

As the Repeater is running multiple DMR networks that use the same talkgroup numbers, all talkgroups for FreeDMR need to be prefixed with an ‘8’.This is so the repeater can run Brandmeister on Timeslot 1 and FreeDMR on Timeslot 2.

To ensure you reach the FreeDMR Network, you need to programme talkgroups for FreeDMR with a prefix of 8 and ensure they are on Timeslot 2. This routes the transmission to FreeDMR and not to Brandmeister.

It is recommended that all FreeDMR Talkgroups at 7-digits long.
These should start with 8 and end with the Talkgroup number. If you need to add extra numbers to make the talkgroup number a total of 7-digits, fill out the gap by adding 0 between the ‘8’ and your Talkgrpup number.

e.g.: Talkgroup 91. Prefix with 8. Requires four 0 to make 7-digits = TG 8000091
e.g.: Talkgroup 1234. Prefix with 8. Requires two 0 to make 7-digits = TG 8001234

Which Talkgroup?

Brandmeister: 5303 is the most used TG for NZ
FreeDMR: 8000530 (530) is the most used TG for NZ

As the repeater is connected to the internet, anyone listening on the same talkgroup either via the repeater or through a hotspot will be able to make contact with you! You’ll often find locals listening on the above talkgroups, however if you wish to work the world, you can do this with a Dynamic Talkgroup!

Dynamic vs. Static Talkgroups

Static Talkgroups are ‘always on’ meaning if you have the talkgroup in your radio, you can switch to this channel and any traffic will automatically come through.

Dynamic Talkgroups are turned on by typing in or changing to the talkgroup number on your radio and kerchunking your PTT button. This will make the talkgroup active and you’ll be able to hear traffic and make transmissions on the talkgroup. Dynamic Talkgroups will remain active for 15-mintes from the last piece of audio heard or transmission made.

If you use a Dynamic Talkgroup os TS1 for Brandmeister or TS2 for FreeDMR, you should key a Disconnect when you are finished to make the repeater/timeslot available for others to use. The Disconnect TG information is in the networks section above.
