3 November – Construction of 2m Satellite Station Antenna (for ISS)

November 3 @ 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm

Free

In this workshop, participants will build a simple satellite antenna for use in working through a 2m repeater uplink various amateur satellites (including the International Space Station).  It will receive on 70cm as well.

The antenna is made from wire and PVC conduit.  There are two elements mounted at 90 degrees to each other and one is fed with a 90 degree phase delay.  An impedance matching unit is also included.  There are also two passive reflectors.  Circular polarisation minimises QSB from the satellite tumbling.   The antenna  includes a 1m high PVC conduit base.

The whole thing is intended for field or temporary use and can be partially disassembled for storage.

The kit will cost $85, including the free-standing mount.  Pre-registration on this website is required to secure a place in the workshop.  Only 10 kits are available so register early!
