Emergency Communications & AREC

Branch 50 (Wellington) NZART has an Amateur Radio Emergency Communications (AREC) Section.   The current Section Leader is John Murphy (ZL2XJ).

The Branch can provide radio communications support for special events and provides support during emergencies – particularly with long distance communications.

AREC is a national organisation affiliated to NZART Inc and recognised by the Police and Civil Defence as providing volunteer communications support for Land Search and Rescue and Emergency Communications.
