Sunday 7 September – WORKSHOP ON TAG TESTING

We will be holding our workshop from 1.30pm – 3.30pm. A new venue is being used for this month’s workshop: Newlands Community Centre, 9 Batchelor St, Newlands.
TAG electrical testing, more accurately known as Test and Tag, is a process of visually inspecting and electrically testing portable electrical appliances and equipment to ensure they are safe to use. The procedure involves a visual check for damage and electrical tests for insulation, earth continuity, and polarity, using a Portable Appliance Tester (PAT). Appliances that pass the test receive a tag indicating they are safe, along with the date of the test and the next due date for re-testing. This process is a legal requirement in many workplaces in New Zealand and Australia to comply with safety standards and protect people from hazards like electric shock and fire
Stephen ZL1SS is a TAG electrical tester, and will step us through the process he takes in testing electrical items and will demonstrate a PAT.
This is a highly relevant workshop for most members, as we all use complex (and sometimes high power) electrical equipment that can be hazard to our health if not checked from time to time. This will give some clues about what to check.
The workshop will conclude with tea, coffee and biscuits.
