8 September – Site Visit to Beacon Hill Signal Station

A small group will visit the Beacon Hill Signal Station in Strathmore Park.
The station monitors entry and exit through the harbour entrance and communications with ships in the harbour. Beacon Hill Signal Station is always manned and keeps tabs on its patch, between Otaki around to just north of Castlepoint, no matter the day, time, circumstance, or weather.
This is a great opportunity to see Wellington’s marine radio monitoring system in action.
