This is a practical introduction and demonstration about DMR and DMR hotspots from John ZL2XJ and Mike ZL1AXG. Mike will demonstrate hotspot on the GD77 handheld using OpenGD77 firmware. Malcolm will demonstrate operation of his high power hotspot. John will speak about the Raspberry Pi based hotspot. Members will be encouraged to order handhelds and hotspot kits to be configured at a special shed workshop in two months time.

At this meeting Ted ZL2TB and John ZL2XJ will give a presentation on the Colonial Knob high speed broadband node upgrade. This is our most complex node in the network, with links northward to Mt Field and Titahi Bay, to the East - in future to Mt Climie, and to the South the node connects to our Johnsonville node with a link onward to Ngaio.
This will be a chance to have a refresh on the possibilities of the high speed broadband network and see how our upgrade has benefited the mesh network.

Bernard ZL2BD and Mike ZL1AXG will give an update on experiments with long distance i2c and the antenna ecosystem controller project.
Mike ZL1AXG will also give the fourth update on the Simple SSB TXCVR. He will look in particular at the IF amps and the XTAL filter.

Most of this shed workshop will focus on building DMR digital hotspots from kitsets and configuring DMR handhelds with OpenGD77 firmware. It will be a "hands on" session for those that pre-purchased the equipment in September.
Mike ZL1AXG will also give a final demonstration of modules in the Simple Txcvr focussing on the TX Linear amplifier.
Following the workshop, tea, coffee and biscuits will be available. All welcome!

John ZL2XJ and Bernard ZL2BD will give a presentation and demonstration of the KiwiSDR project that will have been installed on a remote receive site and is currently being tested in suburban Wellington. The presentation will include an overview of the technology and its application, and the design and implementation of the remote build.
